So, this once, why not try your hand on one of the numerous cross-country trails which criss-cross the entire Saalach Valley. Gliding along some 80 km of excellently maintained trails, you have a perfect way to “cruise” the picturesque countryside of our valleys and alpine meadows.

Winter Hiking
If you prefer to keep both legs planted firmly on the ground, you might enjoy buckling on a pair of snowshoes. This form of winter hike is a relaxing, romantic alternative to alpine and cross-country skiing.
Simply rent some snowshoes and away you go – trudging along winter hiking trails that are perfect for families, always accompanied by picturesque landscapes. Along the way, rustic huts and country inns entice you to stop in for a quick rest and refreshments. But frankly, with the special brand of hospitality for which the Saalach Valley is so renowned, those stops do tend to last a little longer than you might expect!
