Holidays in Salzburg - wilderness adventures in SaalachtalNature experiences in Saalachtal - Naturally Beautiful The beautiful contrast between the rugged mountains and the lush Saalachtaler pastures in the valley below is an experience in itself. Between Weißbach and St. Martin our guests will find prehistoric natural wonders characterized by turbulent waters, oddly shaped rocks and extensive cave systems. The 35 km long Lamprecht Cave is one of the most extensive cave systems in Europe and the largest cave passage in the world. Here, young and not so young cave explorers are able to invade the mountain as far as 600 m on well maintained trails. Organized cave tours into the interior of the cave throughout the year are an inspiration . Another highlight of the outdoor experiences is the romantic Vorderkaserklamm with its orchids (the Saalachtaler Summer Card includes admission!) Here, the Ödenbach carved 80 meters deep into the rock for a distance of 400 metres for about 14000 years. 51 footbridges lead visitors past rushing water and breathtaking rock formations - a strange new world to experience. Vorderkaserklamm is open from May to October. On the way to Vorderkaserklamm, there is a natural recreation area stretching over 2 km. The lively stream of water there is ideal for games as are several ponds for swimming. The rope bridge and rafts are especially popular with children. Idyllic picnic areas with tables and benches are available for general use. (for a small fee). The natural monument Seisenbergklamm is another attraction for families. Free admission with the Saalachtaler Summer Card! The “Klammgeist” makes the trip through the Seisenbergklamm an exciting experience for young and old. The sticker album for children is a hit. Once a week you can enjoy a torchlight walk with music by the “Weisenbläsern” music group. In 1831 woodcutters constructed the first logging trail for timber transport through the 600 metre long and up to 50 feet deep gorge. The logging path is open from May to October and can be visited independently or with a guide. The best thing to do if you still require convincing is to have a look at our our 360-degree panorama map. Experience hiking in Salzburg Saalachtal with exciting information stations on nature, history, geology, mountain farms and orchids. More info about the new adventure hiking trails! The high predicate “Nature Park WEISSBACH” distinguishes the most beautiful landscapes. A Saalachtaler event of a cool nature is a one day guided trip to the Prax ice cave. It takes you deep into the interior of the Loferer Steinberge. A must for all amateur cave explorers, but only for experienced hikers and cave explorers.
