Advent Market at the Pilgrimage Church

Sparkling lights around about; the aroma of punch and roast chestnuts; soft sounding Christmas music and softly swirling snow – that is Advent in the Salzburger Saalachtal. The Advent Market in Maria Kirchental offers a very special atmosphere in front of the impressive backdrop of the pilgrimage church. Families especially love the Mountain Christmas. The little visitors can stop by at the angel post office and write their wish lists for the Christ Child – they will stare in wonder as our angel receives their letters personally.

The most tranquil time of the year

Advent is known as the ”Stade Zeit“ in the Salzburger Saalachtal.  ”Stad“ means quiet and this contemplative peace, full of traditions and customs, can be felt particularly intensively in the run up to Christmas at the idyllic Advent Market in Maria Kirchental. Traditional, local crafts, culinary treats and a cup of hot punch invite you to wander through the Advent Market, lit by lanterns and candlelight accompanied by Christmassy music.

Saturday, 7th December	Advent market from 2 pm, free entry 3 pm “Advent melodies for the Christmas season” A special Advent concert with the pupils of the Musikum under the direction of Kapellmeister Andreas Wimmer. Admission to the Christmas concert is free, voluntary donations for the music students are welcome.
Sunday, 8th December	Advent market from 11 am, free entry 3 pm “Gemeinsam auf’s Christkind woatn” with the “Hollerstauden”. The “Hollerstauden” concert with their authentic and atmospheric songs is probably one of the highlights of the Maria Kirchental mountain Christmas. Saturday, 14th December	Advent market from 2 pm, free entry 3 pm “Should it be Christmas again…” Christmas concerts by Göko + CO With their self-written songs and poems, the musicians want to invite you to reflect and pause for a moment, so that Christmas can once again be a celebration of love and harmony. Admission to the Advent concert is free – donations for the musicians are gladly accepted.
Sunday, 15th December	Advent market from 11 am, free admission 3 pm “Towards Christmas” Alpine Advent singing The Alpine Advent Singing with its Advent folk songs and melodies, sung and played by: Gruber Zwoagsong, Wetterkreuz Musi, Vogelauer Sänger and the Weisenbläser of the Trachtenmusikkapelle Unken.
