TEH – Traditional European Medicine
The Art of Traditional Healing
Walking, Kneipp cures, natural cosmetics, incense, preparation of salves, gathering fresh, delicious salad – directly from the meadow!
The Association for the Preservation of Traditional European Medicine, the TEH Verein, has set itself the objectives of raising the profile of local, traditional applications, medicines and rituals; to work on these scientifically and to bring them to the people. In this way, timeless practices, which have proved themselves over centuries, can be used in a contemporary way for many centuries to come.
„The Alternative Healing of the Pinzgauers“ – the foundation of the TEH association – has been placed on the national intangible heritage list by the Austrian UNESCO Commision thus proving that this cultural asset must be particularly valued.
The TEH Verein pays attention to its regional roots, the quality of the ingredients and suitability for everyday use. Traditional remedies, foodstuffs and applications will be revived and further developed. Many members of the TEH Verein are attempting to develop contemporary products and services from the traditional ingredients.
The TEH Verein organizes events around the theme of traditional European medicine such as healing days; the training course for the qualification of TEH practitioner with the WIFI Salzburg and many other short seminars, lectures and workshops. On herbal walks participants learn how to classify, collect and dry plants and how to use them. All activities encourage exchange of information about the topic. The unique feature of the TEH seminars is the way in which they are embedded in the annual cycle, the cultural context and regionality.
