By way of the accessible gondola Almbahn I and II, you can travel comfortably up to the Almenwelt Lofer and find yourself directly at the starting point for 7 circular hikes with fantastic panorama peaks. The two reservoirs, the Almsee (Alm Lake)  and the Rote Marmorsee (Red Marble Lake), are especially beautifully situated. You can take Children’s buggies, mountain bikes as well as dogs in the gondola. Approximately 400 animals spend the summer on the extensive alpine pasture with their herdsmen and women.

Summer Operating Times of the Almbahn

The Almbahn I and II lifts are in operation from 9 am to 4.30 pm in summer. In high-season the lift runs every day. In the pre- and post-seasons, the lift is in operation on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. You can find more information about the operating and opening times on the Website of the Almenwelt Lofer.

Past the Waterfalls to the Alm

From the mountain station Loderbichl (Almbahn I), hike along the Waterfall Experience Trail for approximately 3 km up to the Almenwelt. You will roam through dark mountain forests, pass an old alm and marvel at the imposing waterfall cascades. In addition, you will find 12 exciting stations where you can discover important facts about Nature and History through games. After about 2 hours at a comfortable pace, you will reach the unique plateau of the Almenwelt Lofer, where you will find an adventure playground and inviting guesthouses with their traditional dishes to enjoy. The Experience Trail can be walked in both directions from above or below.

The path along the waterfalls is well developed and therefore wonderful for families. Due to the steps, the trail is not suitable for pushchairs. The height difference is about 360 m. The adventure trail can of course also be experienced from top to bottom.

The two Almbahn lifts bring you quickly to the Almenwelt Lofer, over a vertical distance of around 700 metres. On arrival at the top, you reach the extensive hiking alm. At the mountainstation of Almbahn II is a alm adventure playground.  The climbing tower, the salamander slide or the zip-wire and the various loungers are all designed around the theme of flowers and animals of the Almenwelt Lofer.
