Ice Climbing in the Salzburger Saalachtal
Ice Arena Diesbach / Hohlwegen: the Top Spot for Ice Profis
According to the motto „The next ice age will certainly come,“ Mother Nature reveals her beauty at temperatures of minus 13 degrees in the Salzburger Saalachtal. Experienced ice climbers know that every ice screw and every step in the dangerous icefall must be secure. It is not for nothing that ice climbing is known as the absolute supreme discipline in mountain sport.
The Ice Arena Diesbach / Hohlwegen is the Ice Mecca in the Salzburger Saalachtal. It lies directly on the B311 between Weißbach and Saalfelden. Currently not all icicles and mixed lines have been exploited.
