DISCOVER THE “MAGIC OF WALKING” IN WINTER

The snow crunches under your feet while you breathe in the ice-cold air. Your glance wanders over the white mountain peaks of the Salzburger Saalachtal. When the blanket of snow is kissed by the sun and everything begins to sparkle, it is time to dive into the magical winter world. A perfect example of this is the certified Hiking Village Unken, where farming culture meets almost untouched nature.

You can go on your winter hike in the snow-covered Hiking Village in Unken either in the valley or in Heutal – the high plateau above Unken at over 1200m. On the village circuit you will discover the village, its mountains and learn about its history. Or you can walk along the Josefsallee via the Gsengsteig with a magnificent view of the Hiking Village Unken.

You have more possibilities in Heutal. A hike to the Hochalm is twice as much fun because you can toboggan back down on the specially prepared natural toboggan run. A hike to the Wildalm is also rewarding. At the restaurant you can call in for refreshments, enjoy the sun and watch the skiers. Or you can cross the border to Bavaria to the Winkelmoosalm. The cross-country ski trail there can also be used as a hiking path. You can reach Heutal in winter by car.

Auch eine Wanderung zur Wildalm lohnt sich. Bei der Jausenstation könnt Ihr Euch Stärken, die Sonne genießen und den Skifahrern zuschauen. Oder Ihr überquert die Grenze nach Bayern zur Winkelmoosalm. Die Langlaufloipe dorthin darf auch als Wanderweg benutzt werden.
Ins Heutal kommt Ihr übrigens auch im Winter mit dem Auto.
