Special Christmas market for the family near Salzburg

What’s the best way to get into the Christmas spirit? At the Maria Kirchental Mountain Christmas, of course. At the traditional craft market, vendors await you with handmade products such as pottery, handmade textiles, and regional specialties. In addition to two free concerts, the Alpine Advent singing event titled “Auf d`Weihnacht zua” and, new this year, “Advent im Gebirg”—the anniversary tour of the Meissnitzer Band—will take place.

For the kids, the wait for Santa gets shorter with crafts in the Christmas workshop with elf “Billy,” the interactive theater, and the Angel Post Office. Of course, there’s a shuttle service (for a fee) again this year from the toll booth in St. Martin. You’ll find free parking in the center of St. Martin. The hike up to the Mountain Christmas takes about 1 hour.

Mountain Christmas will take place on December 5 & 6, 2026, and December 12 & 13, 2026.
