The Quickest Way to the Salzburger Saalachtal

Nearest train stations:
Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (as a border station, it is still part of the Deutsche Bahn fare system) or the Bavarian station Bad Reichenhall. Timetable information and tickets at: www.bahn.de or fahrplan.oebb.at
In the summer season from 30.6. – 10.9.2023 there are again attractive and fast Railjet direct connections from Vienna to Salzburg Hauptbahnhof on weekends.
From the train station to your accommodation:
With the Postbus line 260 you can reach the Salzburg Saalach Valley comfortably from Salzburg main station as well as from Bad Reichenhall station (17 km) without changing buses. You can find the timetable here. From 1.5. to 31.10. the use of the line is free with the Salzburg Saalachtal Card. This is issued by the landlord. Simply contact us beforehand and have the summer card sent to your smartphone as a digital version. The card is valid from 0 o’clock on the day of arrival. Tip for the winter: The journey from Salzburg by bus 260 to the skiing area Almenwelt Lofer is free of charge when purchasing a 1-day ski pass.
From the train station St. Johann in Tirol (25 km) you can take the bus 4012 to the region. You can find the timetable here.
By Car
Toll-free from the North:
Motorway A8 / A93 Munich – Innsbruck, exit Oberaudorf via Walchsee, Kössen (B172) and Erpfendorfer Landesstraße (L39) to Lofer, St. Martin, Unken and Weißbach.
It is also possible to travel via Motorway A8 Munich – Salzburg; exit Siegsdorf/Traunstein via the Deutsche Alpenstraße; border crossing Steinpaß (Tunnel) to Unken, Lofer, St. Martin and Weißbach
From the East:
Via the West Motorway A1 Vienna – Salzburg; exit Wals/Lofer via Bundesstraße B21 and B311 to Unken, Lofer, St. Martin and Weißbach.
