Away from the wonderful pists of the region Salzburger Saalachtal, there are all sorts of things going on in winter! Cross-country skiing offers climatic therapy for body and soul thanks to exercise in nature and in cold temperatures. Couples in love hike tightly embraced on the romantic winter hiking trails or take a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride through the valley sinking into the snow, guests in their prime trudge through the glittering snow with snowshoes and children toboggan from the Hochalm and Maria Kirchental together with their parents. On the ice, locals and guests alike compete in the traditional sport of ice-curling (Eisstockschießen) while twirling young princesses perform wonderful pirouettes. Here in the Salzburger Saalachtal, winter is simply fun.
