Cross-country skiing offers climatic therapy for body and soul thanks to exercise in nature and in cold temperatures. Cross-country skiing trains the entire body while still going easy on the joints. In addition, it is a sport in which everyone can participate in the Salzburger Saalachtal. On a total of 80km of trails, you can glide through the local area either classic or skating style; test yourself in the biathlon or ski through the valley on the illuminated night trail under the starry heavens. The guaranteed snow on the high-altitude trails in the Almenwelt Lofer and Heutal ensure that the cross-country ski area here counts as one of the most popular in Salzburger Land.

High-Altitude Trail in the Almenwelt Lofer: 2-4 km
The high-altitude trail lies at 1500 m above sea-level and is easily reached via Almbahn I and II. There is a changing-room in the mountain station of the Almbahn II with a storage area for clothes. The high-altitude trail is around 4 km long (from easy to difficult) and is groomed for „Classic“ and „Skating“. The trailleads over alms and plateau through a beautiful and varied landscape. soak up the sun, enjoy the nature and the magnificent views.
Scheffsnoth to Au: 10 km
The starting point for the 10 km Panorama Trail is directly after the Scheffsnother Bridge. The varied route leads from Schneffsnoth, through forest and fields, to the village of Au, with its well-known little church. The trail then heads back to Scheffsnoth.
Cross-Country Ski Trail St. Martin – Lofer: 10 km
Breathe the fresh air, enjoy nature, glide silently over the snow – that is cross-country skiing in its most wonderful form. The starting points for the trail St. Martin – Lofer are at Gasthof Luftenstein, in the village of St. Martin and at Gasthof Hochmoos. You can ski from Gasthof Luftenstein via St. Martin, Gasthof Hochmoos and the Moos Circuit to Lofer, on 10 km of optimally prepared easy trails (classic and skating) without ascents.

Cross-country ski park in St. Martin: Ideal for exercise fans
Several display boards provide information about optimal cardiovascular conditions, strength, stretching and mobility exercises and most importantly of all, the critical technical elements of the classic cross-country skiing style.
Unken: Circular Trail Heutal – 5 km
The start of this trail is at the car park of the Heutal Lifts. The skibus brings you directly and punctually to Heutal. Start at the Heutaler Hof. The cross-country trail leads over the Mäanderhochmoor to the Percht Alm Hut where the trail then heads back to the starting point. The trail is graded family-friendly and easy. If this has whetted your appetite, there are a further 30 km of prepared trails to Winklmoos and the Wildalm restaurant.
Unken: Heutal – Winkelmoos - 12 km
Starting point is at the Car Park Heutal via the forestry track to the Kreuz Bridge and Winkelmoos. There you have the possibility to ski the circular trail in Winkelmoos and return to the Kreuz Bridge. From here you can ski to the Wildalm restaurant (1300 m high, 3 km) or to the Moarlack. The Moarlack trail is only for experts.
Weissbach: OBerweissbach TRail - 1,4 KM
Start this valley-trail at the Café Auvogl or at the restaurant Frohnwies. The flat and 1,4 kilometer long circular route leads you back to the point of departure.
Weissbach: Unterweissbach Trail - 2,5 KM
Point of departure of this flat trail is the restaurant Seisenbergklamm. In skating or classic style you will ski along the Saalach till the turning point and the same way back.
