Spring Cleaning in the Gnomes’ Forest

and everyone helps

Every spring the Wimmer family is busy in the Gnomes’ Forest, fixing, cleaning and tidying up because in addition to their work on the farm and in the Loderbichl restaurant, they brought the Gnomes’ Trail to life on their own initiative in 2018.

On a walk along the Gnomes’ Trail you can clearly see how much love and attention to detail went into building it. The Wimmer family have been caring for the handmade gnomes and forest animals since 2018. And it isn’t just the adults who get stuck in. Even the youngest family member grabs a cleaning bucket and enthusiastically helps to polish up the inhabitants of the Gnomes’ Trail for the visitors.


Where is the Gnomes’ Trail?

This can be found at the middle station of the Almenwelt Lofer lift. You can reach the starting point of the trail comfortably with the Almbahn I.


How long does the walk take?

In addition to the time which your children take to play in the forest and look at the different stations, you need to plan in a walking time of  around 15 minutes. This means the experience trail is also suitable for very small visitors.

Is the Gnomes’ Trail suitable for prams and buggies?

Yes, the path is wide enough to take a pram with you.

Is there a place to stop for refreshments on the path?

Yes, at the start or end of the trail you will find the Loderbichl mountain restaurant where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Salzburger Saalachtal from the terrace.


Our insider tip:

You must try the ice-cream made by the Dankl confectioners’ which is produced from milk from Loderbichl. The way is the destination.
