Stone giants as far as the eye can see...

major part of our everyday life and local culture.

From „Carven, Ziachn & Zithern“ in spring, to the Stoabergmarsch in Juni, the seminars of the TEH Verein, Harvest Festival from the end of August up to the Bergweihnacht (Mountain Christmas) in December  -   numerous large as well as smaller traditional events take place over the entire year.

The holiday region in the border triangle of Salzburg, Tirol and Bavaria is an ideal base for countless excursions in the surrounding areas. Holders of the Salzburger Saalachtal Card receive discounts of varying amounts at selected regional partner businesses.

4 locations - one region

Summer or winter; hiking boots or ski boots - enjoy your holiday in the mountains in the scenic Almenwelt Lofer. Active holidaymakers who feel at home in cool water will be attracted by the wild and romantic Saalach and its renowned world championship white water course. The idyllic centre of the market town of Lofer is also well worth seeing as well as the Auer Chapel in Au from which there is a particularly spectacular view of the impressive Loferer Steinberge.

St. Martin

St. Martin has always been known for its Pinzgauer charm and unspoiled village centre where the traditional Harvest Festival takes place every year. There is an exciting range of summer sporting activities on offer down in the valley or on the way up to Maria Kirchental as well as relaxation in the form of a refreshing Kneipp cure. Winter holidaymakers can try their hand at Eisstockschießen, a traditional sport similar to curling; hike along idyllic winter walking paths or glide along the groomed cross-country ski trails.

Anyone travelling to the Salzburger Saalachtal via the "Kleines Deutsches Eck" should plan their first stop at the Steinpass. The headquarters of the TEH Traditionelle Europäische Heilkunde, an association promoting traditional European medicine, is found in the old customs post in Unken where a wide range of natural products are available. The hiking and ski area Heutal is particularly beautiful and popular. It is situated above the village of Unken at an altitude of between 1000 and 1600 metres. Bikers enjoy a wide ranging network of cycle paths and can reach neighbouring Tyrol and Bavaria in just a few minutes.

The Naturpark Weißbach is renowned far and wide as an Eldorado for all kinds of excursions and tours. The picturesque Seisenbergklamm is found in the valley along with countless climbing routes and three via ferratas in varying degress of difficulty. The Naturpark can be explored on several different themed hiking trails and the scenic alpine pastures of the Kallbrunnalm, Litzlalm and Kammerlingalm are truly unique. If you love nature, hiking and mountains then you are in exactly the right place here!
